Each year, for the latter half of the month of March, college basketball madness takes over. For two weeks, we’re treated to some of the best, most competitive games of the year, featuring expected favorites, Cinderella stories, dogfights, and upsets.

The Alley Oop

Notes of toasted oak in Bird Dog Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey punctuate the mix of sweetness and refreshing mint flavors found in the Alley Oop. 

Add a few fresh raspberries and mint leaves to a shaker and muddle together. Next, add ice along with 1 ½ oz Bird Dog Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, ½ oz lemon juice, ¼ oz ginger syrup, and 1 teaspoon simple syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a punch glass, top with ¾ oz sparkling water, and serve.

Slam Dunk

Complement the Slam Dunk’s cranberry and orange juices with the savory flavor of Bird Dog Peach Whiskey

Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add 1 1/2 oz each of Bird Dog Peach Whiskey, cranberry juice, and orange juice. Simply stir and get back to the game. 

Nothin’ But Net

Bird Dog Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey’s notes of spice and honey round out Nothin’ But Net’s tart taste. 

Add 1 ½ oz Bird Dog Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, ½ oz vanilla syrup, 2 oz orange juice, and 1 ½ oz lime soda. Pour into a shaker and shake until combined. Pour over ice into a glass and garnish with an orange slice. 

Free Throw

This one is easy to make and, like a swish, goes down easy. Add to that ease with the savory-sweet undertones of Bird Dog Salted Caramel Whiskey.

In a tumbler, muddle 1 teaspoon bitters and 1 tablespoon sugar together. Add 2 oz Bird Dog Salted Caramel Whiskey. ice, and top with an orange wedge.

Shooting Guard

The light undertones of honey and raisins, and it’s warm finish make Bird Dog Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 7 Year Old Small Batch the perfect pairing for the classic ingredients found in the Shooting Guard. 

Muddle ½ oz maple syrup, 5 dashes orange bitters, and orange rind at the bottom of a glass. Add some ice and pour in 2 oz Bird Dog Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 7 Year Old Small Batch. Garnish with a cherry or orange slice for serving.

Bourbon Cat Call

One thing the tournament has a lot of is cats–you name the breed, it’s there–so we’ll cap our list with a delectable cocktail named after our feline friends. 

Layer 2 oz Bird Dog Blackberry Whiskey and several mint leaves into a cocktail shaker and muddle. Muddle mint leaves, a handful of blackberries, and 1 oz of simple syrup in the bottom of your glass and add ice. Strain the contents of the shaker into the glass. Garnish with mint leaves.
